all the summer vibes last Thursday capturing this very beautiful and special event and a little haze of Bank Holiday pouff as the days since disappear into a blur…
I sit here writing FULL of gratitude for the delights and sunshine the Bank Holiday weekend brought, gorgeous moments creating images of amazing events, sunshine, sunshine, sunshine and to be back photographing events over the weekend continues to be the best feeling and such a blessing :-) Here’s to many more as Summer continues xx
Have a fab rest of your week!
This past week has been a super fab, crazy, zesty mix of editing, photography and client meetings with a slithering of yoga in person as a student and gym workouts to get my fitness + stamina back up as weddings approach!! The challenge of sitting to edit photo sessions is real now and I’m having to take a break and step away from my screen every 45minutes - to think pre pandemic I used to sit locked in for hours at a time now seems impossible!!
BUT I am super excited not only to be back right in the mix of photographing an amazing array of FOOD, PORTRAITS, LIFESTYLE and LITTLE PEOPLE + I am stoked to share a few images from this weeks sessions and commercial shoots!
Images above taken at The Greyfriar Pub in Chawton ahead of their opening May 17th and capturing their new menu and staff pictures!!
Whooooo it’s an amazing feeling to be photographing, being creative and mixing safely with clients and friends again :-)
Stay safe everyone and have a great weekend! x
Feeling safe during our photo session is top of my priorities to ensure you enjoy our session together so I wanted to share a few safety measures I have in place.
Outdoor sessions in fresh air are permitted with no more than 6 people - I keep 2 meters apart and provide sanitiser and wear a mask whilst working. I am respectful of breathing space, personal space + take a lateral flow test ahead of our session.
Indoor sessions - From May 17th we are able to hold Family Sessions inside (which is great b’cos this weather!!! :-) ) + I will continue to wear a mask as I work, bring hand sanitiser and wipes with me. I am also allowed to continue with commercial work and product photography. YAY :-)
And selling posters of my peony love series 💕❤️💕
Amongst my many endeavours over here I am attempting to grow chillis, courgettes and tomatoes this year along with some squash I hope to plant shortly. In the non edible section of the garden things are starting to take shape, the peonies old and new are emerging and the many I planted last year are making progress (keeping fingers xd it continues even despite the current nightly frosts!)
My pansie display looks like an homage to the suffragette movement, all greens, whites and purples and I’m totally ok with that!!
It’s also been an exciting week as three posters went out the door to their new home in Whitstable!!
They are part of the ‘Peony Love’ series captured and created last year during lockdown and I’m beyond thrilled their new owner is in love and delighted with their arrival. These images shown above were full frame printed on 16x20 inch paper! So a big gorgeous luscious impact on a wall and this trio sit so well together I’m excited to see them in situ when they’re room redecoration is finished :-)
so happy weekend everyone! Have a great one and enjoy the sunshine xx
So now then, this week seems to have totally and utterly disintergrated into a blur of…..well, what happened and who stole my week? I’m naturally waking up earlier, going on amazing 2 hour hikes to start my day - tbh if I didn’t I think I’d loose my mind and yet still there isn’t enough time in the day and each day is running away with itself…..
I’ve been busy planning outdoor events (photo workshops in nature - SO EXCITED, yoga gatherings, so much fun) I’ve also been photographing this week, product lifestyle shots which has been awesome, challenging and so much fun! BUT seriously, who stole my week, my last 5 days + please, please, please can you let me have it back lol OK maybe not but seriously…..The return to or re-engagement with the world has been welcome yet slightly scary, not one to be nervous by nature I have found myself a little anxious navigating things and importantly ORDERING THE CHAOS!
I found that line recently and oh my god it hit the nail on the head, you have all these things swirling, life, work, pandemic, and actually sitting down and trying to strategically order things has made a huge difference. It gives you (it certainly gave me) a point of focus + clarity and checking off the list feels good - obvious but important. So next, what’s next?
Well I have a beautiful, peaceful personal project shot on film I’m excited about and want to concentrate on even just for a second AND can we talk about the weather and ow damn cold it is - can it just warm itself up a fraction please. it’s not suppose to get much higher than 14’c for the next week + I’ve still got the flippin heating on!!! Thankfully the nights are lighter for longer :-)
Inadvertently I came across these images and they totally made me stop and smile - London is a super wonderful city and I’m looking forward to photographing family sessions and couples again soon xx
Stay Safe everyone xxx
Super excited to share a back of camera shot from a local client shoot this week!!
What a week, it’s hard to believe we’re approaching the end of March and we passed the 1 year anniversary of lockdown, a sombre remembering of those we’ve lost and how we’ve adjusted/pivoted/adapted to all our ways of life.
As International Women’s Day approached this year I had been spending this lockdown online studying my other passion, Yoga Teaching. The love and happiness that flowed out of the screens during class was phenomenal.
I pondered ways to celebrate and appreciate this when it occurred to me we were graduating the day before on March 7th so I asked if anyone would love to be involved and created the #choosetochallenge images for the IWD Gallery and some additional images for fun :-)
Totally amazed it worked and beyond thrilled these amazing souls below were up to experiment and see what would happen, we laughed A LOT and created some beautiful images. Thank You everyone xx My heart is FULL xx
I’m so happy because the camera #pentaxmesuper hadn’t been used since 1983 + the #Fuji film was 5 years out of date lol
It felt pretty special to be carrying and photographing with my Grandads camera - he loved nature and flowers and has the most epic macro lens I am excited to try next!!! He passed when I was 7 + I was very much banned from going anywhere near his darkroom BUT I was allowed (lol) to be infront of the lens + we have numerous photos of me sitting for his pictures. Fun memories and incredibly special to all these years later be taking his camera for a walk and using it myself.
I have specific ideas for this camera and as a test roll I’m excited to explore this further, especially with such richness in the colours + as natures evolves towards spring ❤️💕❤️ Happy Friday y’all xx #filmisalive #britishphotographer #filmphotographer #fujifilmsuperia200

Wishing you all a peaceful, safe and happy year ahead xx
After my morning walk and coffee this morning I made a short video of my NEW 2021 Calendars and I am thrilled to share it here too!!!

I collated the beautiful Peony images I created in Lockdown 1 last year to produce a gorgeous calendar and I am super thrilled to share fine art prints from the series will be available soon too!
Last night as I pondered the previous 12 months and reflected upon my photo clients and the sessions I had captured, I wistfully remembered a time when marriage proposals would book end each year and just what a high it is to end and begin each year with the pleasure an joy of capturing these incredible moments. JUST as I was reminiscing a Blog post popped up from Flytographer with their Top 30 Proposals of 2020 and I was BEYOND THRILLED to be included with this fun proposal of Christine + Ann Marie back in earl yMarch <3
Happy January everyone, here’s to a peaceful year ahead xx
This week!! WOWZERS
I had completely forgotten about this amazing interview!!! SO beyond thrilled to share this article on my lockdown project!!!
So lockdown eases on Wednesday, I’ve been awake since 4am , I’ve sipped a couple of cups of green tea and before I potentially return to snoozing I wanted to share a couple of images from the last week.
I’m still walking but unfortunately not as frequently as LD1.0 - this week however I managed to capture a stunning sunset or two and being back in nature really flexed a muscle and fired off all the good vibes, it’s such a tonic. The second half of this lockdown has felt at times like walking thru treacle whilst coated in marshmallow + reminding myself that it’s ok to take a breath and just breathe, whilst sounding so simple, has proved rather more trickier for some reason (I’m not searching for the answers to my resistance- I’m still trying to breathe lol) but positives and silver linings abound.
chatting to friends overseas via FaceTime/ FB video - SUCH a joy
fresh air - ALWAYS
meeting new businesses opening up on the high street in my town - exciting!
photographing Christmas for Alitex - a super cosy, divine photo shoot which included coffee + mince pies - what’s not to love!
Have a lovely week everyone! x
This lockdown is different, it doesn’t feel the same, parts of it seem familiar, but it’s just enough to feel slightly odd too - is that even possible with how this year is running? Actually amongst all this I feel hopeful and elated after the weekend election results, I also feel relieved, but, hopeful, mainly hopeful. So as we ride through our second lockdown, it’s been pretty eventful this week.
Monday afternoon I took a friend to A&E, LUCKILY she is ok and we returned home with a Wagas takeout (separate homes/masks worn in the car/ sanitised everything). Tuesday was my birthday - I’ve never solo walked with friends at a distance so much in one day and eaten lunch al fresco in November - it was fabulous! I ALSO threw on (haha as if that was even possible) shoe horned my ass in to my gold hot pants not worn in public since 2013 and if a girl can’t wear a sparkle on her birthday when can she wear it? My future self will thank me for it I am certain :-)
Wednesday I woke up feeling like hell, it wasn’t a hangover, not a drop of fizz has passed my lips for a while! I returned to bed until mid afternoon when I decided to investigate the nearest drive in testing spot - off I went, cotton swab wafted to the back of my throat + up my right nostril, I spent 10 seconds trying not to giggle as it was ridiculously ticklish + when else would you discover there’s a spot right up your nose that tickles? I’m grateful my result was negative. Still feeling exhausted I took a little walk around the block today taking in the sunny air then promptly returned home to soup and lots of water. So Friday here we are. The week has flown yet I’ve been super elated by all the awesome friends I have that sang happy birthday in varying tones through whatsapp/facebook/text - the flowers that arrived yesterday/ the hamper of goodies/ gifts of candles/treats/relaxation. For a lockdown birthday week it’s been pretty wonderful in so many unexpected ways + once my energy levels lift I’ll be back to world domination, for now I’m off to read + nap.
Stay safe everyone, BIG LOVE Jxx
Lockdown birthday 101 - wear sparkle and embrace it with a pout, socially distanced friend + sunshine x
